SWANA International sponsors an annual scholarship program known as the Grant H. Flint Scholarship Awards Program. The program annually awards scholarships worth about $12,000 total, with individual stipends ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 each. Awards are made to qualified graduating seniors from high school (i.e., incoming college frosh); to incoming college juniors and seniors, and to graduate students. To be eligible, you must be the son, daughter, or grandchild of a SWANA member, or you can be a student member of SWANA. Only full time students are eligible. Complete details of the program, including application forms and guidance are available on the SWANA web site at www.swana.org.

Chapters are responsible for reviewing and approving applications at the state level before passing them along for consideration by SWANA International. Final awards by SWANA International are announced by August 1 each year, with scholarship funds distributed to the winners by September 1.

SWANA Ohio has its own state program known as the Myron S. Viny Scholarship. Applicants to the SWANA Ohio Scholarship must be the son, daughter, or grandchild of a SWANA Ohio Chapter member (regardless of the location of their school in Ohio or outside). Alternatively, such applicants can be a SWANA Student member based in Ohio to gain eligibility. A maximum of two applicants are eligible for up to $1,500 each per year in separate Ohio Chapter funds, before applications are passed along to SWANA International for their program above.

We encourage you (or someone you know) to apply. Qualified applicants in the past few years have had a high rate of success. Complete application submittals (forms, transcripts and other required materials) are due to the current Chair of the SWANA Ohio Scholarship Program Committee:

Applications are due to the contact above by May 1 of each year. The SWANA Ohio Chapter will consider applications received by that date, determine Chapter awards, and recommend a maximum of one applicant per category to SWANA International by June 1.
